The Awesome Saving God (Romans 11:33-36)
Murray Lean, July 3, 2011Part of the Romans 9-11 series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Description
Have you ever been overwhelmed by the sheer greatness of God? After eleven chapters of Romans where he spells out the most comprehensive explanation of God's rescue mission for undeserving sinners (ie. all of us!), Paul cannot contain himself. He simply overflows with worship in these four verses. What is our response as we reflect upon our salvation? Yes, it is all due to Him. Yes, He draws us in sovereign grace. But yes, He calls for our willing response. Pastor Murray concludes our current series with a call to accept the biblical balance of divine sovereignty and human responsibility, avoid the extremes of human free will and hardline Calvinism, and commit ourselves to the ongoing work of gospel ministry with all the energy God provides.

Romans 11:33-36
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (ESV)
