City North sponsors a number of missionaries
and other workers to spread the news of God’s
love around the world.

 

· Darron and Janet Himsteadt work in
Thailand with OMF with their children Jada
and Tia.

· Margaret teaches English at a university in
South East Asia.

· David and Carole teach English and consult
in South East Asia with their children Ben
and Daniel.

· Sergi and Tanya Susidko are involved in church
planting in Ukraine with their children Elijah and
Nikita.

· Ray and Cathy Busuttil work with ECM in Ukraine and surrounding countries with their children Elyce, Amy and Jarryd.

 

As a church, City North has 'adopted' the Butonese unreached people group through Global interAction. 

 

Many young adults from the church who volunteer for
mission work are sponsored by mofomi, which stands
for ‘Money for Missions’. Mofomi organises activities
and initiatives that raise funds to support young adults
who take the step of faith to go on mission.

 

City North’s Mission Action Group (MAG) aims to maintain a missions program that will help to fulfil the great commission given to us by Jesus as recorded in the following verses:

 

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20          

 

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8.           

 

At City North, we see 'Jerusalem' as being our local community, 'Judea' our state and nation and 'the ends of the earth' as overseas.

 

MAG members meet bi-monthly to:

· raise awareness of missionaries’ needs

· pray for missionaries supported by our church

· communicate with supported missionaries

· formulate our missions budget

· challenge and encourage prospective missionaries, and

· educate and inspire other departments of the church about mission.

 

A team of people from the church has previously been on a mission trip to Fiji, based at the Fiji Bible College in Lautoka. The team were involved in telling many groups of people about God’s love for them, including school students, mothers and people serving in a local prison.

 

In June – July 2007, a team from the church will be heading to Wondai (near Cherbourg and Murgon) to serve the area’s residents through a school holiday children’s ministry.
