About Our Pastor |

Senior Pastor Rev. Murray Lean |
|
Murray has been City North’s Senior Pastor since 2002. Murray was ordained in 1995, and has completed a Graduate qualification in Theology. Before commencing ministry at City North, Murray served in the Biloela Baptist Church from 1989 to 2001. City North appreciates Murray’s gift of teaching.
Murray grew up in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and was a medical doctor before becoming a full-time pastor. Murray has a wife - Debbie - and children - Dave, Josh, Matt, Becky, Ben and Zac.
Murray enjoys reading biographies and watching sport, especially cricket. His favourite current Australian Test player is a local to the Gordon Park area – Matthew Hayden.
When asked what excites him about City North, Murray said, “I like the fact that we are a pretty down-to-earth bunch of people who relate well together across the generations. There is a seriousness about God and the Bible and we like to share the message of hope it contains. I believe we have a core of tremendously gifted people with servant hearts, and that God has much that He wants to do through us over the next few years. Our potential is enormous.
“I think there is a lot of love in our church and it flows in many different directions across all groups. We should be very thankful for this and help it grow. We want others to join us as we serve the Lord together. We have many different ministries happening and the opportunities are tremendous. God has also blessed us with great facilities.” |
